Steel Horizon USA

I was reading the reviews of this game, and all of them talked really well of this game, but i have a question... Does it use properly the DS controls (Touch Screen and Buttons), or is just another game that the touch screen could've simply nor be there?

It's a WWII naval war strategy game. Kind of like Advance Wars, but it's more geared toward strategy players. It also seems harder.
