The first (and best) RPG game I ever played. I think that along with its sequel, Chrono Cross, it beats most of Final Fantasy's series, not only because Chrono Cross have LOTS of references to Chrono Trigger, but because the game system is much better than most of the Final Fantasy series (the "new generation" part of the series included). And the fact that there are many ways to change the ending helps too.
This is one of the finest RPG´s of all times and all consoles. The old time were so much fun. 2D Games, great music and i mean GREAT. Just play it.
This game is absolutely amazing. Back when this was originally released for the SNES i played the hell out of it, beat at least 15 times; ultimately looking for a way to save Schala, pity such a thing is not possible. The only thing I think of which rivals this inability would have to be the death of Aeris in FF VII; suffice it to say both circumstances pretty well bite.
One of the best RPGs (Role Playing Game) that I have played. The difference between the SNES (Super Nintendo) and the PSX (Playstation) version is that in the PSX version, there are bonus cut scenes throughout the game, for those who watched DragonBall Z, you may notice a major similarity between the character designs, it was said that the illustrator of DragonBall Z also drew the characters in here. Apart from that, it has a very smooth story. Even now its a good game to play and it WILL take you a while to pass the game. Those who passed it and did not choose a New (Continue a new game with all your items) but started a new game without all your previous items will take you a while to pass it even though you have the knowledge on what to do. Plenty to do in this game, and there are 14 possible ending to unlock and some bonus features! Yeah, this game is recommended to the extreme!!
Chrono Trigger is a classic!
Whats the difference between this game vs the SNES version?
It's like Chrono Cross !!!
i like the game and the songs! cool!!
I still remember the eternal darkness triple tech from this game performed by magus, marle and lucca.
The best rpg i have played i like it that much i got it again for the ds and it was better with a moster to train ;-)
The reason this is made up of so much win is purely this:
Chrono Trigger's development team included three designers that Square dubbed the "Dream Team", consisting of Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the Final Fantasy series, and Yuuji Horii and Akira Toriyama - two freelance designers known for their work on Enix's Dragon Quest series. Kazuhiko Aoki produced the game. Masato Kato (Ninja Gaiden, parts of FF7) wrote most of the plot, while composer Yasunori Mitsuda scored most of the game before falling ill and deferring remaining tracks to Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu (who is a god :P).
(Ripped bloodily from wikipedia with some notes added)
Possibly one of my favourite games of all time, well worth playing, the plot is brilliant, the combat system excellent... you can tell this came out originally between final fantasy 6+7, this wouldn't look at all out of place labelled as one of the FF series and is (in my opinion) far superior to some of the FF games (I'm looking at you number 6...)
...Hooray for broken comment editing slapping tags all over my comment >.<
