very nice game
This is my favorite GBA game of all time. It is the only TBS that I know where you can shoot and then take cover. It does get hard, but it's always passable. Uh...maybe after the third of fourth time at that level. If you do run into trouble, just look at what problem you're having. If it is a mission where you have 20 rounds to rescue someone, and you always die after the first five rounds, then take your time. Also, a tip, make Jorel (yeah, Superman's dad, wooo), Carlos and Ruby into snipers. But also give Carlos a SMG. Carlos totally rocks. I also make it so Ruby can heal some. This game will take around 30 hours.
It's the year 2117. The Earth has been conquered and humanity has been enslaved by aliens known as Arelians. The semi-mature plot follows the exploits of a boy named Jorel, who has joined a resistance faction after his parents were taken by these cruel, frivolous invaders. If you're familiar with the X-COM line of games, you'll find this game a comfortable fit - no surprise, considering Julian Gollop headed both projects. The game consists of a series of missions which are strikingly similar to the X-COM battlescape, albeit without the luxury of disposable soldiers. If you're not familiar with X-COM, you make me feel OLD. ANCIENT, okay? Go get yourself DOSBox, pick up X-COM: UFO Defense and experience a little bit of history, then come back and we'll talk. ....alright, I can say a few words I guess. Gameplay is turn-based and tactical with a dash of roleplaying. The field is one of those isometric "3D" displays you've seen before in other tactical RPGs. Certain game mechanics are actually quite unique. For example, enemy units will appear invisible unless a friendly character is facing them, and of course close enough to see. Overwatch in particular will be a new plaything for even seasoned fans of the Tactical RPG genre... unfortunately, since most missions are aggressively orientated, it works against the player more than for him. The music, plot, characters, equipment and progression system are all "acceptable" through "very good". Probably the only failing point of this game is the graphics. Eventually you'll become accustomed to them, but they initially seem... childish, which can be a turn-off. All in all, I recommend trying it out - if for no other reason, then to give yourself a reason to check out the game's parent series.
