Dragon Quest IV - Chapters of the Chosen USA

Ragnar looks stupid... i regret i havent downloaded this one ,because of this. I am just amazed how pretty and HUGE "Heavenly Bride" looks ... i just have to have all of them. But first,i will finish the one im playing allready. Anyone elese who had problems choosing...dont choose.have them both

I like the DQ series, because my first RPG ever was Dragon Warrior, that came free from Nintendo Power. You old schooler's should know what I'm talking about. I like the fantasy world aspect as well. Final Fastasy is just trying to hard to be realistic, and the story line takes you in a very specific route, where as DQ is old school fantasy with monsters and castles and such. Also the fact you can go anywhere and in any order is nice. Seems like games that make you work for something are never good in the US, that must be why FF series is popular in US and the DQ series is more popular in Japan. I don't remember kids getting beat up for any FF game.

Final Fantasy has its own persistent steampunk-ish universe. It generally has a some skill system particular to each game, usually involving drawing magic from some item and some large summon magics. It usually gives you an airship, and is plot-centric. DQ is your classic "classic RPG." It is the kind of game where you see crawl through a dungeon to a boss to find you can't beat it and go grind a few more levels in the overworld. It is a game where you go try to find the new town so you can find new items only to find the items are too expensive (so you go grind cash in the overworld). It is the kind of game where you adventure from town to town looking for new party members to go save the princess or kill the dragon or explore the ruins. Dungeon crawling, find armor and swords, fantasy universe -- slimes and kobolds and drakes and etc. Each has its own following.

This game works, but the World Map will always be slow, since it draws the entire map when you visit it. Whenever you go to a new screen, it has to render all of it at once which causes the world map to run slowly since it is so huge. Other than that, the game runs perfectly with NO$GBA 2.6a, at least.

awesome reminds me of the good ol' days but im only 13 xD (some old codger wuld say that lmao) TY Romulation and to you the main dude (can't be bothered to look up ur name) AWESOME this has any piracy protection? im probably guessing not cos it's and oldish games came out like 2 years ago i think so yeah Sqeeunix weren't that smart then xDDDDD

is Dragon quest 5 somehow connected to this game here?

I'm going to say something stupid so plz don't hate me. When I was a little younger i liked the games that showed my character slicing n dicing monsters in battle, even if it was just air and no contact, just good guys on one side and bad guys on the other. So that being, Final Fantasy series gave me that. Dragon Quest only showed me first-person view of the monster, So I gave up on Dragon Quest. It's not that I hate it, it's just...my imagination is decent but I was 12. As I recall going outside at 12... the graphics were terrible, too many kids hogging all the swings, all my buddys wanted to do something else, had to run home to eat, and direct sunlight.... Screw that. Me and 3 of my buddies out to save the world from certain doom, and none of them had to be here. Battle scenes with good guys and bad guys on the same screen fighting. Good times.

Both series are amazing. Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy, just pick one to play or play both to have even more Fun !!!

I loved the game itself, it was great, but the english translations were so HORRIBLE you couldn't understand most the people. and alot of the time it was key plots of the story to know what to do next....no go.......had to drop it. Anyone else agree?
