you have to mod your ps2 with a modchip or use swap discs and burn the isos to cds
as far as i know HDLoader and HDAdvance DO NOT work for PS1 games

To all the people stuck on the airship (and everyone emulating PS for that matter), I have a great solution: STOP USING ePSXe. I know it's considered the best, and I'm not by any means saying it's bad, however I use pSX, and I have yet to have a problem on any game (including the airship sequence on this awesome game). It's a great emulator plus it doesn't rely on plugins so there is almost no configuration necessary. Just dump your BIOS and your good to go. FFIV is a great game, so play it on a great emu.

To all the people stuck at the airship, the solution is download ePSXE 1.52 and play the FMV on that version. after that, any time on the ship, use a savestate and reopen the game with ePSXE 1.60 (haven't tried 1.70) and load the savestate. You can also just keep playing on 1.52 if you like but ONCE YOU HAVE SAVED AT A MOOGLE AFTER THE FMV, DO NOT SWITCH EPSXE VERSIONS OR YOUR SAVED DATA WILL BE SET BACK TO THE LAST SAVE POINT BEFORE THE AISRHIP.

I've found an easy solution to the problem with the airship cutscene. The game crashed for me as well when the cutscene played, and I think there are similar situations in the other discs downloads. The solution is this:
If you're playing this on a console, when the cutscene starts open the disc tray when the scene starts but before it crashed and when the scene stalls close it again. This skips the cutscene, which means there's nothing to make it crash :) easy.
If using ePSXe (what I used when it crashed) go to the menu and 'Change Disc' to any file, it really doesn't matter what, and then quickly change back. Exact same effect as opening the disc tray on a console, it'll skip and you can continue playing ^_^

Can someone tell me something before I download the rom? I played this game long ago when I still had my PsX, but all the CG´s were incomplete (off course, it wasn't the original game). I compared them with the Japanese version to make sure. Back then I couldn't find the U.S. version with the complete scenes.
Anyone who played can tell me if the scenes are complete?
I would be awesome to play this game with all the scenes!
